Special Requirements Project Engineer Location: Oldham (Occasional Site Visits) Hours: 38.5/week Contract: Fixed/Permanent Our client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced project engineer. They are looking for a reliable, self-motivated Project Engineer responsible for all engineering and technical disciplines that projects involve. Aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion you will need to be proficient at scheduling, planning, forecasting, resourcing and managing all technical activities from the initial scoping of need, through to commission/setting to work and handing back the completed project to the client. Experience in water feature, swimming pool or related industry would be beneficial. Duties and responsibilities • To review the Client and Company Tender Specifications and Handover Documentation, including the Tender Programme, and to fully define the Project and its scope of works. • Assist in the preparation of the overall and detailed Project Programmes. • The day-to-day supervision and co-ordination of staff allocated to the Project. • To design in accordance with British Standards (or others of a similar standing as necessary), Company Standards, the Specification and, where appropriate, the Handover Documentation, the mechanical engineering scope of works. • Working alongside the design team to ensure scheme designs are produced and adhere to client specifications whilst retaining appropriate levels of operational security and full compliance with all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental legislation. • Attend site/meetings, some with the client, throughout the duration of the project, from initial concept design, through detailed design and construction. • Assist in house mock-up testing where appropriate • Site surveys, where appropriate • Working with the operational client to scope, define and cost a solution that is both value for money and fit for purpose. • Drafting, vetting and approving RAMS, pre-construction information, project plans/programmes, construction phase H&S plans H&S files, commissioning plans etc. • Setting contractors to work and managing the site based construction activity, typically for above ground M&E installations/refurbishment works for a wide variety of process assets. • Arranging for site access, permits and isolations, site-based inductions, safety audits, tool box talks, safety briefings. • Liaison with the Site Supervisor on the status of Material Requisitions and the remaining design activities affecting construction/commissioning. • To monitor and report site works ensuring that they are conducted to specification, programme and budget. • Overseeing the commissioning and hand over of the project to the operational client. • Closing out any snagging and monitoring asset performance post completion. • The post holder must be prepared to undertake the main tasks listed above outside of normal working hours on occasions and adequate notice will be given. Essential Experience/Skills/Characteristics • Excellent IT skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office in particularly Excel, Word & Outlook. • Organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. • Confident decision-making ability • Ability to work within budgets and to deadlines • A comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulations. • Proven ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, liaising directly with client and other project team members. • Ability to explain design ideas and plans clearly • Ability to communicate effectively, at all levels. • The ability to identify problems and come up with innovative, cost effective solutions. • Time management and ability to prioritise work and manage a number of tasks concurrently and work to given deadlines. QUALIFICATIONS • English & Maths equivalent to Grade C or above • IOSH Managing Safely Desirable • Degree/HNC/BTec – engineering related field • CSCS/Safety Passport • Full UK driving licence
